Artists supporting artists
Coming out of hard lock downs and the covid-19 pandemic restrictions, has brought to light how isolated many local artists are. We live and work in our individual silos and without regular events happening where conversation can take place there is little opportunity to create and build a sustainable artistic community.
Artists Supporting Artists will provide a regular space for local artists from all artistic genre’s to meet and engage with other like-minded individuals. These collective events will happen every three months with the intention of building a community of artists that are: known to one another; are able to share, exchange and start conversations around problems facing the arts and artists in our local context and build an environment of artists’ supporting artists.
This platform is not intended as a funding pitstop. Instead ASA would like to build a stronger artistic community that forms part of a local database that artists and arts practitioners are able to draw on for future events, projects and possible engagements.
If you are an artist, arts practitioner, teacher or arts administrator and you want to see the local arts scene in our community become the central hub for all things creative then we need to be part of the change.
ReRouting Arts would like to invite any artists who live and work in PMB, it’s surrounds and the Midlands to join us and be a part of Artists’ supporting artists. All disciplines welcome, including artists, teachers, arts practitioners and arts administrators. Dates for our first event are still to be confirmed so please email info@reroutingarts.co.za for more information and to be included in all future correspondence.
